Musculoskeletal Conditions

Musculoskeletal conditions, like back pain and injuries, are a major productivity and cost concern for employers. After the common cold, back pain is the most frequent cause of missed work days for adults under 45 years of age and accounts for 25% of worker compensation claims. Back pain is the fourth leading cause of short-term disability and the third leading cause of long-term disability. Employers should use several strategies in the workplace and through plan design to promote prevention, healthy lifestyles, and make sure that people suffering from one of these conditions receives appropriate, evidence-based care.
