The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has disrupted the world and overturned our normal lives. While everyone is impacted, certain regions, countries, cities and even families have been hit harder than others. The situation in Italy reveals how end-of-life care and grieving are affected by quarantines, restrictions against gatherings and cemetery closings. Instead of being surrounded by friends, family and co-workers after the death of a loved one, people may now be isolated and forced to mourn alone.
