Over the past decade, the number of cell and gene therapies (CGTs) and the scope of diseases they treat have undergone significant transformation. By the end of 2023, there were 76 CGTs available worldwide, double the number of therapies launched 10 years earlier.1
The rich clinical pipeline, fueling the projected number of therapies poised to enter the market in the next decade, will be transformational for care delivery and disease treatment, but also increasingly unaffordable for payers globally. Employers and public payers alike are considering how to fund and create access to these multimillion-dollar treatments for a growing number of patients who need them.
To help navigate this complex topic, Business Group on Health has curated a list of resources that provides much-needed information about developing effective, affordable and equitable CGT benefit strategies.
