CMS/CCIIO Requests Employer Consideration of a Statement of Support for its Carrier-focused Prior Authorization Pledge

The Center for Consumer Information & Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) at CMS has initiated a program with insurance carriers that sets certain objectives for prior authorization for their insured coverage arrangements. While not directly applicable to self-insured plans, CCIIO leaders are asking self-insured employer plan sponsors to consider signing on to a Statement of Support for their initiative.
