Key Takeaways

  • Every employer that completed the survey includes mental health in their well-being strategy, cementing this dimension’s place in employers’ well-being strategies.
  • Globally, EAPs and teletherapy are the most commonly offered mental health initiative among employers.
  • Employees remain highly engaged with mental health. Some employers plan to further expand their efforts and investments for this well-being dimension in the future.

Mental Health is an Integral Part of Employers’ Well-being Strategies

Mental health is a key dimension in employers’ overall well-being strategies around the world. In fact, 100% of survey respondents include mental health as a dimension in their overall well-being strategy in 2025 (Figure 3.1). What’s more, mental health is ranked as the most important well-being dimension by 47% of employers surveyed, while another 44% consider it to be the second most important.

Employers Worldwide Offer a Wide Variety of Mental Health Initiatives

As shown in Figure 3.2, the top three most commonly offered mental health programs are employee assistance programs (EAPs), teletherapy and mindfulness programs. This is no surprise as employers have worked to provide broad mental health support that spans the continuum of employee needs, including ways to prevent stress from escalating into more serious conditions. Other employer offerings include stress management that goes beyond basic mindfulness, resiliency and happiness (80%) and resiliency training (74%), as well as digital cognitive behavioral therapy (54%).

Lastly, a critical component to many employers’ mental health strategies is to train employees to become mental health champions/allies. Thirty-eight percent of employers have champions at all or most locations, and an additional 21% will do so in some countries. Mental health champions are trained on how to support their peers and connect them to needed resources, making them important stewards of an organizational culture of well-being.
