Joint Letter to Secretaries of Labor, HHS and Treasury Supporting Protecting Patients from Surprise Billing

In advance of proposed regulations, the Business Group, in cooperation with 48 other organizations, submitted comments on the No Surprises Act, supporting protection of patients from surprise billing. The coalition expressed opposition to any excessive inflationary charges, and recommended reforms to ensure the Act achieves its original intent.

Specifically, the Business Group wholeheartedly supports the intent of the No Surprises Act to protect patients from surprise billing practices which have imposed unnecessary excessive costs on unsuspecting patients. The Business Group opposes some provisions of the law which may incentivize out-of-network providers to pursue excessive inflationary charges, leading to undue costs and financial harm for consumers and families.
