The Promoting Healthy Weight Through Healthy Dining at Work Toolkit is designed to help employers provide a healthy food environment — and contribute significantly to increased productivity, employee morale and daily well-being. To promote a healthy food environment, employers should (1) Ensure that healthy options are available and accessible, using the dining, vending and catering assessment tools provided; (2) Use pricing to create incentives for employees to purchase healthy items; (3) Promote less calorically dense/higher nutritional value items using known consumer marketing techniques, product placement strategies and signage; (4) Incorporate wellness incentives and/or benefit design to encourage behavior change; and (5) Implement a health and nutrition education campaign to create interest and change the social norms at work: make it easy, affordable and socially acceptable to eat well!
The Promoting Healthy Weight Through Healthy Dining at Work Toolkit is the result of efforts of many employers, public health officials and nutrition experts. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with suggestions and requests.
