Comments to CMS on a Proposed Rule Impacting Medicare Hospital Inpatient Payments

The Business Group submitted comments on a proposed rule (CMS-1752-P) supporting closing the health equity gap, opposing further delays of risk for basic-track ACO’s, and applauding repeal of 2021 requirements to use private payer data for potential revisions to relative payments under FFS Medicare.

Specifically, the Business Group wholeheartedly supported CMS efforts to close the health equity gap and provided recommendations to improve data collection. The Business Group opposed a freeze of basic-track ACOs risk citing improving conditions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, the Business Group applauded CMS decision to repeal the collection of market-based rate information to update its relative payments under Medicare Severity-Diagnosis Related Group (MS-DRG) beginning in 2024, citing our 2020 comments.
