Health Innovations Forum
Mission & Objectives
The Health Innovations Forum (HIF) was initially formed to assist large employers in the process of identifying and accelerating the adoption of innovations in employee benefits, health, and well-being. Since its inception HIF has evolved considerably to not only identify and categorize start-ups and innovators but more importantly, to focus on the successful integration of solutions into an employer’s ecosystem of vendor solutions. Additionally, HIF challenges the vendor and investor communities to innovate holistically to address long standing challenges and gaps in the patient and care delivery experience. Effective integration, coordination, and proven and sustainable outcomes being paramount. There are many solutions in the market today and frequent new entrants. Participation on HIF helps employers understand the landscape of new innovators and assess which providers, products and technologies have the ability to create valuable and sustained disruption.

What sets HIF apart is its focus on effective implementation of innovative strategies – not just contracting with emerging vendors – and its connection to the Business Group’s membership of hundreds of employers and industry stakeholders, which gives it a sizeable platform to push the conversation on innovation across the health care ecosystem in the U.S. and globally. The Forum facilitates identification and evaluation of technology and solutions via input from large employer members, with the ability to improve employee health and/or the efficiency, delivery, or consumer experience within the health care system. Whether a solution’s goal is to work directly with an employer or is offered via an intermediary such as the health plan or navigator, the objective of HIF is adoption, acceleration, and integration of efficient and viable solutions.

Start-Ups

The value that the HIF provides applicants is a unique and direct opportunity through which innovative solutions and providers can gain knowledge from, access to, and in some cases, implementation with the world's largest and most prominent organizations. Leveraging this Business Group forum, solutions with the most compelling value proposition will be assessed by and gain exposure and potential entry into the large employer market. HIF is the only industry innovation forum that goes beyond merely assessing existing and emerging solutions and providing startups with exposure, but importantly also provides meaningful feedback and direction about how best to integrate and accelerate these solutions within an employer’s broader ecosystem of vendors and internal and external partners and stakeholders. Companies that are selected to present to HIF are not endorsed by Business Group on Health; the Business Group does not endorse any industry partners.

Application FAQs

Applications may be submitted to the Health Innovations Forum using our online application tool. Apply Here.

The application is divided into two steps:

  • 1 | Assessment: Six questions seeking basic information about your health care solution. Your answers determine whether your proposed solution will pass the applicability and value proposition factors that large employers are seeking. Assessments typically take 5 business days to determine if you meet the criteria.
  • 2 | Full Application: If approved, you will be asked to complete the full application. The application will ask you to share additional information about your company, its operational readiness and capabilities, as well as the cost and requirements to implement the solution.
The application will include questions on:
  • The Value Proposition for Employers;
  • The Effectiveness of the Solution;
  • Operational Capabilities and Readiness;
  • Cost; and
  • Requirements for Implementation.

There is no fee to complete the application. However, if selected to present to the Health Innovations Forum, there is a fee of $5,000 required to secure your spot.

The application will be open at all times; however, we will have specific deadlines for each of the three annual Forum meetings to allow sufficient time for review and selection. Applications that come in after the deadline will be held until the next review period.

Applicants will receive a response within 5 business days of submitting their preliminary application. This response will either advance them to the full application, or terminate the process for those who do not meet the criteria for the large employer market. The second part of the application must be completed before the application deadline to be considered for the next HIF Council meeting.
