As the results of the 2024 election become final and the composition and priorities of the new Congress become clear, it is vital that employer health plan sponsors stay engaged to understand what changes may impact their plans and to potentially help ensure policies that will be most beneficial for plan offerings, employees and their families.
Even as we await results that will determine control of the House of Representatives, Donald Trump’s return to the White House and control of the Senate shifting to Republicans will potentially alter the health policy and regulatory landscape in 2025 and beyond. At minimum, the change in Presidential administration will likely bring new executive orders and regulatory actions, reshaping policies that directly affect employer-sponsored health plans.
As these changes unfold, Business Group on Health remains non-partisan and steadfast in our commitment to advocating for policies that strengthen employer-sponsored health and well-being and address the needs of our members and the tens of millions of employees and family members they support.
Our focus continues to be on preserving and building on the principles that matter most to our members: keeping health care coverage tax-free, preserving ERISA preemption, promoting competition and transparency in health care, advancing solutions to manage rising prescription drug costs, ensuring mental health and telehealth access and more. These priorities underscore our mission to help employers provide affordable, high-quality benefits that promote employee well-being and organizational success.
In the coming months, we expect new developments on issues impacting employer-sponsored health plans, with potential shifts in the interpretation of ACA-related regulations and other policies that shape the benefits landscape. While the specifics of each regulatory change are yet to be determined, we will continue to engage with policymakers and provide timely insights and guidance to help members navigate the dynamic policy environment.
The Business Group remains committed to advocating for balanced reforms that address health care costs, encourage innovation and ensure that employer-sponsored plans can continue to offer meaningful and cost-effective benefits for employees and their families across the nation.
