Quality indicates evidence-based care, provider expertise, achieving better clinical outcomes without sacrificing cost or good patient experience. Quality can relate to a care setting, individual provider or treatment, or a care program and is an essential element of the value equation (value= quality + experience/cost). Employers and their partners are looking to steer members to quality care through concierge navigation, limited networks, centers of excellence and may hold providers accountable for quality through outcomes-based payment models.
