The purpose of this survey was to determine which methods large employers will employ to inform, encourage and track COVID-19 vaccination among employees and improve vaccine distribution. A total of 72 large employer members of Business Group on Health responded to this survey.
Key Takeaways
- Since January, more large employers have finalized their plans to encourage COVID-19 vaccination. For example, no employers are planning to mandate COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment, while a few have decided to require it in order to return to the worksite.
- Large employers intend to inform and encourage vaccination by providing information on the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, addressing equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and providing scheduling flexibility.
- Over 50% of large employers will directly engage the delivery system to support COVID-19 vaccination, primarily through on- or near-site vaccination clinics or by partnering with pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs).
- Nearly half (46%) of large employers are tracking or planning to track COVID-19 vaccination rates among employees, primarily from weekly reports from their health plans. Currently, two-thirds of those employers report that 20% or less of their employee population is partially or fully vaccinated.
