On September 10, 2024, the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions of the U.S. House Committee on Education & the Workforce held a hearing entitled: ERISA’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY: THE VALUE OF EMPLOYER-SPONSORED HEALTH BENEFITS.

The Business Group on Health applauds and joins the Subcommittee for its celebration of ERISA’s foundational role in the provision of employer self-insured health coverage. Recognizing the importance and success of employer provided health coverage, the Business Group provided clear and meaningful information to lawmakers about protecting and affirming ERISA preemption and ensuring that employers retain appropriate control and flexibility to ensure that they can continue to provide robust, innovative health and welfare benefits for ERISA’s next 50 years.
