Segmenting beneficiaries in specific groups allows employers to individualize and optimize benefits offerings, communication methods and engagement strategies, with the potential to customize programs to meet each group's specific needs.
About one-third of large employers' beneficiaries are children and adolescent dependents, responsible for 20-25% of health care costs.1,2 Pregnancy-related health care as well as providing retiree health benefits are major cost drivers for employers as well. Additionally, large employers are facing a growing diversity of their workforce which encompasses cultural, ethical and racial disparities, technological advances that allow employees to work remotely anywhere and anytime and a growing number of employees who are located outside of the US.
Specific Populations Resources provide a variety of information, tools and solutions that are based on the distinct characteristics, needs and challenges of different groups of beneficiaries and include:
