Preventive Services Prioritization Tool

Limited resources or competing demands prevent employers from adding all recommended clinical preventive service benefits in a single benefit revision cycle. Employers should consider a strategic implementation approach and prioritize benefit expansion.

The Prioritization tool assists employers in determining which preventive services should be included in the benefit plan based on health and economic value or employee demographics and risk factors.

Prioritization Methods

1. Choose a Prioritization Method:
    Provide health and economic value
      Rank orders clinical preventive services by their economic health impact.
      PURPOSE: To provide cost-effective and life-saving benefits
    Address beneficiary demographic and risk factors
      By entering employee demographics (age, gender) or risk factors (tobacco usage, pregnancy), employers can prioritize preventive services by their ability to meet the needs of a defined employee or risk population.
      PURPOSE: To address population-specific needs based on demographics and/or risk factors.

2. Select your beneficiary population of interest:
    Employees
    Child Dependents (0 to 18 years)

EXAMPLE: Selecting MALE, 45 YEARS and TOBACCO USE will yield all preventive services that include this criteria combination only.
