The National Business Group on Health — with the support of the Maternal and Child Health Bureau — has produced an informative and useful resource entitled Employer Toolkit: Reducing Child & Adolescent Obesity — Addressing Healthy Weight For Employees and Their Children. This toolkit provides large employers with pertinent and timely information, practical strategies and comprehensive analysis of the childhood obesity epidemic in terms of health consequences and costs. This toolkit provides strategies and solutions for employers and parents that speak to the problem of healthy weight management. The material is arranged in a flexible format that will allow the Business Group to deliver updated and expanded information on an ongoing basis.

Healthy Weight Families: Fact Sheets for Parents



Toolkit items include:

  • A solution brief that discusses the problem and presents solutions for both employers and parents to promoting healthy weight for families

  • A Power Point presentation on CD, with talking points, for presentations to employees. The presentation was designed specifically for use by benefits managers, medical staff, wellness and health promotion staff as well as, employee assistance program professionals

  • Seven fact sheets designed to educate parents and provide practical approaches and solutions to the complex issues of childhood obesity. Topics include meal planning, weight assessment, physical activity and additional resources.
