Australia
Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) Established in 1974, ACHS is an independent, not-for-profit organization, dedicated to improving the quality of health care in Australia through continually reviewing of performance, assessment and accreditation. More recently, ACHS developed international standards and international certification and/or accreditation is available.
Brazil
Consortium for Brazilian Accreditation This organization has partnered with the Joint Commission International to offer joint national and international accreditation to hospitals in Brazil.
Canada
Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA) CCHSA became independent from the American JCAHO in 1958. It accredits both public and private hospitals in Canada and has engaged in accreditation related work in a number of countries including Columbia, Italy, Ireland, France and Saudi Arabia.
Europe
Health Quality Service (HQS) HQS is Europe's oldest healthcare accreditation organization. HQS also has an international consulting branch for the development of standards for a range of services. It advises governments and accreditation programs in developing and OECD countries.
France
French National Organization on Accreditation and Evaluation in Health Accredits healthcare agencies in France.
India
Quality Council of India
National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH)
Formed in late 2005, NABH plans to accredit hospitals in the private and public sector. Ten standards including patient rights and education, infection control, access, and continuity of care have been established.
Indian Confederation for Healthcare Accreditation (ICHA) Established in 2004, ICHA was conceived to create a mechanism to establish validated excellence in healthcare through a comprehensive healthcare accreditation system.
South Africa
Council of Health Services Accreditation of South Africa (COHSASA) COHSASA, accredited by the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua), is a not-for-profit NGO that has been operating in principally in South Africa since 1995. In that time, the Council has worked in over 502 healthcare facilities in both the private and public sector, conferring accreditation on those facilities that comply with standards.
