Life Course Chart

The Recommended Schedule of Preventive Care for Adults states that 3 doses of hepatitis B vaccine are recommended for "all adults"; it should state that the vaccine series is recommended for "at-risk adults". The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends hepatitis B immunization for all unvaccinated adults at risk for hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, and for all adults requesting protection from HBV infection. Acknowledgment of a specific risk factor for HBV infection should not be a requirement for immunization. Reference: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A Comprehensive Immunization Strategy to Eliminate Transmission of Hepatitis B Virus Infection in the United States: Recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) Part II: Immunization of Adults.
