This week, the House plans to vote on a $192 billion bill by Ways and Means Committee Chair Sandy Levin (D-MI) and Senate Finance Committee Chair Max Baucus (D-MT) that would renew dozens of expired tax breaks; extend expiring unemployment benefits and eligibility for the federal COBRA premium subsidies until the end of the year (December 31); and delay scheduled cuts to Medicare physician payments for 3 years. The current unemployment benefit and COBRA subsidy eligibility extensions will expire May 31st.
