Pharmaceutical Council

The Pharmaceutical Council was established in 2001 to provide tools, information and technology to Business Group members about pharmaceuticals and pharmacy benefits. Members of the Pharmaceutical Council are involved in the development and delivery of pharmacy benefits, including:

Employee Benefit Managers
Pharmaceutical Benefit Managers (PBMs)
Pharmaceutical Manufacturers
Employers
Consultants

The Council’s diverse membership represents the various perspectives of the pharmaceutical system, which is important to ensuring that the Council’s deliverables offer a complete understanding of the delivery of pharmacy benefits.

The Council develops tools and resources that Business Group members need to support their pharmacy benefit activities. Recent products include:

	Prescription Drug Safety: 10 Tips for Your Protection This October 2010 employee tip sheet outlines tips on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and communicating with one’s doctor to ensure that medication is taken safely and effectively.
	10 Ways Employers Can Enhance Pharmacy Benefit Communications This August 2010 top solutions publication offers strategies for employers to communicate more effectively about pharmacy benefits with their employees.
	2010 Pharmacy Benefit Design Trends This July 2010 issue brief provides employers with trends in pharmacy benefit design based on interviews with eight large employers, research from the field and the results of various surveys.
	The Effect of Health Reform on the Pharmacy Benefit This July 2010 issue brief was written to help employers understand the implications of health reform for employer-sponsored pharmacy benefits and plan participants.
