Leah C. Trahan, MPH
Program Analyst, Center for Prevention and Health Services
Leah Trahan is a Program Analyst with the Center for Prevention and Health Services. Leah manages the Center's Maternal and Family Health Initiative as well as the Racial/Ethnic Health Disparities project in partnership with the Office of Minority Health.
Prior to joining the Business Group, Leah worked as the Program Manager of the Centers for Public Health Preparedness at the Association of Schools of Public Health, providing technical support in coordinating the product development activities of collaboration groups comprised of university and federal agency bioterrorism-related subject matter experts and other preparedness-related service activities. She was also previously employed by Northrop Grumman as a Technical Assistance Liaison, where she provided oversight to Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHSA) subcontractors nationwide in program planning, implementation and evaluation efforts. She developed methods to assess maternal alcohol history and current alcohol use, and assisted with development of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder prevention programming based on the current evidence base. She also coordinated project evaluation efforts and organized findings for dissemination. Leah served as a Research Coordinator for Baylor College of Medicine, coordinating research activities for a National Institutes of Health Roadmap Initiative focused on elder self-neglect research.
Leah holds a Bachelor's of Arts degree in International Studies from Frostburg State University and a Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) from the University of South Carolina. While at South Carolina she worked as a graduate assistant for the Institute for HIV Prevention Leadership, and on CDC funded Transassociation project, African Americans and HIV: Knowing Partner Risk. She is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
