Wendy I. Slavit, MPH, CHES Senior Program Analyst, Center for Prevention and Health Services
Wendy Slavit is a Senior Program Analyst with the Center for Prevention and Health Services. Wendy has responsibility for the Center's mental and behavioral health work including tobacco cessation. She is also involved with maternal & child health projects.
Prior to joining the Business Group, Wendy worked as a Project Coordinator at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. for the Diabetes Research Team. In this position, she served as a health educator for a program designed to promote regimen adherence for families of pre-adolescents with Type 1 diabetes. Additionally, she provided informal counseling to parents of young children to attend to the psychosocial issues of raising a very young child with diabetes. While pursuing her graduate degree, Wendy interned at Mental Health America where she composed materials for a national public education awareness campaign aimed at increasing parent child communication.
Wendy holds a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Psychology from Tufts University and a Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) from Emory University. She also is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). Her professional interests include health psychology, mental health, substance abuse, health literacy, social marketing, nutrition, chronic disease prevention, maternal & child health, and racial and ethnic health disparities.
